Joshua 8:18 –18 Then the Lord said to Joshua, “Reach out with the spear that is in your hand [and point it] toward Ai, for I will give it into your hand.”
Oswald Chambers said, “the whole of your relationship with Christ is based on obedience. As we obey, God continues to reveal more and more truth to us.” It seems to me this entire chapter is replete with obedience. Joshua did as the Lord commanded and pointed his sword toward Ai and the city was destroyed.
The message the Lord revealed regarding this verse was that we have everything we need to defeat our enemies at our fingertips, but we must obey and use those weapons (his Word, prayer, encouragement and wisdom from fellow believers) against the enemy for victory to happen. We cannot claim that we are helpless or too weak or do not have the right weapons for this warfare. Use what is in your hand, what I have given you and obey what I have commanded you and victory is sure.
Lord, we know our biggest weapon is Your Word. Help us to meditate and hide Your Word in our hearts so that we may use it against the enemies of our soul. Help us to cultivate a more intentional prayer life and listen to the wisdom You provide through the body of Christ in preaching, teaching and fellowship with like-minded and caring believers. Help us to use our time wisely and purposefully to walk in harmony with Your Spirit and activity. Remind us of our armor when the challenges come. May we lift up our voices to You in praise and thanksgiving, and obedience.

I wonder if God is speaking to us about pointing our sword
